MAITYPE was a daily project exploring the various possibilities of Japanese characters and typography. I played with the different forms of a single character 「舞」(mai), the symbol for my name.
Though the character is so familiar to me, dissecting the form and details of the pictograph led me to some interesting discoveries and results. Here is my month-long journey.
BECAUSE MAITYPE WAS A DAILY EXERCISE, THE PROJECT WAS INSPIRED
BY SOME PASSING HOLIDAYS OR EVENTFUL EXPERIENCES. HERE ARE SOME OF THEM.
FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON, U.S. ELECTION DAY, FINISHING A CIRCUIT PROJECT, HALLOWEEN NIGHT.
