A Horror Story from The Piano

  • I want to change the way of presenting the kinetic type. The most common way is through changing between several different scenes or tracking movement in character direction, to enrich the visual experience. Is it possible to make a video that only has one scene and one moving direction, but still keeps the sense of dynamism?

The voiceover of this video is from the movie, “The Piano.” A little girl tells a short story about how her mother became a mute, and it is a bizarre, absurd and a little horrific. Due to the silent and horrific atmosphere, I made the text of her words move like the end credits of a movie, and made the illustration style like a children’s storybook. At the same time, different fonts indicate each word’s meaning, so that it is still visually diversified and interesting.
