Client: Assunta Sera
Project: website redesign
My role: information architect, visual designer and UX designer.
Having been painting for 4 decades, Assunta Sera has a tremendous repertoire of work accumulating on her old website. I worked with her and her developer to re-categorize these paintings into series in order to clean up the visuals of the site.
Since Assunta is an abstract painter, we decided to use images of small details as thumbnail. As viewers hover over these square thumbnails, the whole paintings appear. The square thumbnail images also aim to maintain a consistent look throughout different painting series, as her canvas sizes vary. To express the sheer size of her paintings, we leave 8 columns (or two thirds of the screen) for the image of the paintings.
