Inspired by the work of Eero Saarinen, a beloved Industrial Designer of mine, I set out to create a comedical homage to the Grasshopper Chair. The Grasshopper Chair was a chair designed by Saarinen in 1946 and later produced by Knoll. The chair utilized bent wood technology, created by the Eames duo; which was a huge breakthrough in WWII. The chair was not a huge success for Knoll, and I was interested in the pseudo-failure (it's a beauitful chair, so let's not say complete failure!) of the chair. Trying to mock the form of the chair, with some lines and planes, I created a humorous acrylic grasshopper- wearing sunglasses.
