30, 60, 90 Pavilion

  • This Project started with studying Josef Albers painting and the one that I chose was the Study of Kinetic. In this painting Josef Albers repeats and reverses the white outlined cubes and create and
    3-dimentional effect.
  • Through different studies of the the painting, I created two systems which are the 30, 60, 90 degree system and the ramification of spaces. The first system was found by creating different triangular prisms in the two cubes and looking at the angles. The second system was found by elongating and connecting the lines at the mid point. As a result it created numerous geometric shapes. These two systems was applied to make a interior pavilion.

  • Upon entering the pavilion through the treshold, the visiotr will be immediately aware of the confined space they are passing through. The interior grows as one progress through the sequence of thresholds. As the space goes into the next corner it turns in angles of 60 and 90 degrees. The people will experience the interaction with the pavilion. The walls are diagonal so the people would be able to feel the interactino with the wall. The ceiling of the group space is with triangles that are connected in 30 degrees. people would experience the chages of the shadows as the light changes.
