I am enamored with the notion of light as a tangible, sculptural material.
Understanding the implications of Haitz's Law
and the opportunities presented by fresh OLED technology, I formed a simple idea: I wished to create a “quilt” of light that one could easily manipulate—a unique fixture that encourages user-defined forms while challenging our notions of what a lamp has to be.
This prototype was made from custom electroluminescent panels laminated between flouropolymer sheets (some clever wiring makes it work). I hope to develop future iterations of this concept using superior OLED technology at a variety of scales.
