Pen and Ink
Recently I have become more interested in pen and ink work through the application of pointillism. There is a very different aesthetic and textural feeling to an image when it's given dimension through pointillism. Along with Pointillism I have also gained an interest in botanical and science drawings. This all kicked off when I checked out a book from the library called "The Anatomy of Insects and Spiders" by Claire Beverley and David Ponsonby. This book has over 600 illustrations of insects and spiders that I studied and then later translated into my own personal style. I love pulling inspiration from nature and around myself so creating doodles from pens in my pocket and flowers and insects in the Botanical gardens, Brooklyn, and my backyard was good fun. I've become a huge fan of pens and these are some of my doodles that have ensued through this summer obsession...enjoy!
