Romance copy / tagline = “Aesthetics in music”
Synes is a magazine that focuses on the esthetic elements of the music world.
The goal is to feature contemporary music articles with a clear focus on design, photography, illustration, and all the creative elements that brand and define a musical project. A pretext to talk about music through the visual arts. Therefore the whole magazine includes illustration and strong graphic elements to enhence the artistic side of its content.
Some of the features include interviews to artists, designers, video directors and musicians, showing the art, packaging, pictures, etc. Trying to create a dialog between both parts to help define what is the creative process that led to the final product.
The magazine is also a networking platform, where musicians and artists are able to promote their work and establish creative and professional bounds.
Synes would also curate photo shoots for bands to be featured on specific issues.
Why? There are tons of music magazines that cover all kind of styles and genres but there's never an emphasis on the visual content that goes along with it. Nowadays image is an indivisible part of music (either as a promotion tool, an extension of the musical experience, or both) and this is a potential idea to be explored. There is no real competitor in that sense.
Who? Music nerds with a sensibility for the arts. Vynil collectors, People who want to know more about what defines a band beyond its sound. the conceptual processes behind the creation of an album cover or a music video, etc.
