URBAN FOREST - PRIVATELY OWNED PUBLIC SPACE REDEFINED
My design concept is inspired by nature. Instead of planting real trees inside the space, I created different tree modules that cooperate with the existing structure. The huge columns inside the space are concealed by the tree modules in order to remove traces of the building, making it feel more like a forest. These tree modules not only symbolize nature, but they also start to become a usable part of the space. These mostly become seating because it’s the first requirement for a successful public space. Moreover, mirrors are installed on every wall to create the sense of infinity and in turn making you feel like you’re in an urban forest. And as for the ceiling, it is a huge digital screen that has moving images that simulate what it feels like to be standing under a tree and provides the ability to not only emit a white light comparable to the sun, but also absorb sound and save energy.
