The Metropolitan Museum of Art Merchandise

  • These two projects are the result of a partnership between the Pratt Graduate Communication Design program and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Five graduate students were selected to participate in this collaboration and concept merchandise for the Met Store. While the project has been put on hold, some exciting work came out of the collaboration. 
  • In the initial ideation stages had been asked to propose a number of different ideas/stories. 
    Ideas/designs/stories can incorporate works of art the Met owns the rights to; in addition they are seeking original work that is NYC-focused. The interest is focused on a younger demographic and tourists.

  • MET in NYC -Story 1
    This design highlights the personality of NYC but focusing on the MET placing it at the center of all of the interesting things to do in the city. It follows a certian eastern design trends and that it would be popular amongst tourists especially the Asian demographics. This product has a unique urban feel that captures the youthful spirit of the city. The color is also interchangeble depending on the surface or material.
  • Because the design is a freeform design and doesnt have a define edge it is easily transferable to an assortment of products, the design can be part of a large set including mugs, tshirts, tote bags, buttons and etc. This product has a unique urban feel that captures the youthful spirit of the city.

  • Everything MET in NYC -Story 2
    This design highlights the personality of NYC but focusing on the MET placing it at the center of all of the interesting things to do in the city. Since once your in the city, you almost forget about the skyline and focus more on the different cultures of nyc and things to do.
